My Pregnancy Week 25

Happenings of the Harper Household

We had our appointment last Friday and everything is going great so far.  I am still measuring ahead a little bit, but nothing to be concerned with.

I feel like I look huge already!!!

What is going on with baby #2 (From What to Expect When You're Expecting)

s)Baby is growing by leaps and bounds (and inches and ounces), this week reaching 9 inches in length and more than 1 1/2 pounds in weight.  Capillaries are forming under the skin and filling with blood.  By week's end, air sacs lined with capillaries will also develop in your baby's lungs, getting them ready for that first breath of fresh air.  Those lungs aren't ready for prime time breathing yet - and have a lot of maturing left to do before they will be.  Though they're already beginning to develop surfactant, a substance that will help them expand after birth, your baby's lungs are still too undeveloped to sufficiently send oxygen to the bloodstream and release carbon dioxide from the blood (aka breathe).  And talking about breathing, your baby's nostrils, which have been plugged up until now, are starting to open up this week.  This enables your baby to begin taking practice breaths.  Baby's vocal cords are functioning now, leading to occasional hiccups.

What baby #2 looks like

Weight Gain:  Not sure what I have been posting, but the official number is up 2 pounds total now.  Doctor is very happy with that.

Cravings:  Still sweets.

Aversions:  Not really an aversion, but something I need to avoid - we had grilled cheese and tomato soup for dinner the other night, and it really did me in.  No more tomato soup for me!  Bad heartburn right away, couldn't even finish eating.

Symptoms:  Tired when I walk to much.  I get uncomfortable if I sit, stand, or do anything for too long.  My nose has been really stuffed up, and I keep getting blood clot like stuff in one side.  I get winded super quickly, especially bending over at night to pick up my daughter's toys.

Best part of this week:  We were walking through the grocery store, just my daughter and I, when I said to her, oh - we may have to go to the bathroom, the baby is moving.  She leaned forward in the cart and started moving her hands around on my belly to feel the baby.  Such a sweet moment!

  1. Congrats! I'm glad that my morning sickness is long gone, but like you, I get tired easily if I walk too much.

    1. I was surprised by it yesterday. With my daughter, I walked almost 2 miles every day while I was pregnant, this time around though, it's not working out as well.

    1. Thanks for stopping by! And thanks, somedays I feel adorable and pregnant, some days I just feel like a tanker. I was asked my a nurse at my doctors pediatricians office if I was sure there was only one baby. Yes...we have had 4 ultrasounds already, I'm fairly certain they would have noticed if there was more than one baby in there. :)
